So, due to what the City of Moose Jaw is calling "an isolated system issue", their eBilling system has been temporarily discontinued. So, they, we, are going old school - back to paper copies of our bills.
I smiled when I heard about this yesterday because I have yet to sign up for that eBilling! I still get my quarterly water bill in the mail. I fill out the stub, write a cheque and drop it off at City Hall.
It's actually the only bill that doesn't come out of my account automatically.
I remember when many of us would pay most our bills in-person. In fact, I recall several years ago when I paid my SaskPower bill in person for the final time. Signage at the office told people they were closing and would no longer be taking payments. We'd all have to pay online or at the bank.
I held the door for a little old man as we exited the office that day.
He asked me what he was supposed to do. He didn't have the internet and told me he'd never have a cell phone.
The look in his eyes told me he was accepting the fact the world was passing him by.
I got it. I get it.
