It’s the Victoria Day long weekend, and there are a variety of events for families in the Foothills to enjoy.  

Here’s a look at what’s happening:  

Little Britches Rodeo  

The Little Britches Rodeo kicks off today (May 16) at 6 p.m. at the High River Ag grounds.   

Friday night events include barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, goat tail untying, breakaway roping, and team roping.  

The rodeo continues May 17 at 10 a.m. with the pig scramble, mutton bustin’, barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, goat tail untying, breakaway roping, wild pony race, steer riding, and a hobby horse race.  

The new High River Little Britches Rodeo Queen will also be crowned.   

Granary Road Spring Fair  

The annual Granary Road Spring Fair is back with games, face painting, an inflatable obstacle course, prizes, and floral workshops.  

The fair runs Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

On Saturday, you can also stretch and relax during a Baby Goat Yoga class at 11 a.m.  

Little Britches Parade  

The Little Britches Parade is set for Saturday (May 17) starting at 10 a.m.  

The parade loops along 1st Street, Macleod Trail SW, and 9 Avenue SW.  

There will also be food trucks next to the Museum of the Highwood and along 5th Avenue SW from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.   

The Venue will have live entertainment from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. with Daylin Jorgensen.     

Depending on the weather, there will also be a Battle of the Bands at noon at George Lane Park.  

High River Spring Market  

In addition to events happening this weekend is the High River Spring Market.  

The Spring Market runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday (May 17) at the Highwood Centre.  

The market features Foothills artisans, local honey, and iron and woodwork.  

Admission is by donation.   

Dewdney Players Present: Squabbles  

The final showtime of Squabbles is this weekend.  

The comedy features husband-and-wife Jerry and Alice, whose lives are turned upside down when their in-laws move in. 

The cast features Daniel Rose, Kelly Kozak, Patrick Brown, Hollie Darel, Brad Fowler, Ed Sands, and Debbie Sands, directed by Brad Snowden, and produced by Jane Platt.  

Showtimes are Friday (May 16) and May 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Church Theatre.
