The following is the RCMP report to May 12, 2025.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 27 traffic violations

- 12 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 10 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 10 crimes against property 

- 14 other criminal code

- 10 crimes against person

- 1 traffic accidents

 

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: 

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

 

April 26, 2025

Police responded to a call for a missing person in Killarney. Police were able to locate the parties safe.

Police responded to a 911 call for an assault in Killarney. A female was arrested and released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

Police responded to a call for disturbing the peace in Killarney. Police spoke with the parties involved and the matter was concluded without charges.

Police responded to a call for an intoxicated male that may be in possession of a weapon. Police located the male, who was arrested without incident and remanded into custody.

 

April 27, 2025

Police received a report of theft in Killarney. Police followed up with the complainant and determined no theft had occurred.

While on patrol police observed a vehicle swerving on the road in Boissevain. Police completed a traffic stop. A roadside screening device was administered which resulted in 2 failed readings. An immediate roadside suspension was given to the driver prohibiting driving for 90 days and the vehicle was towed.

 

April 28, 2025

Police received a report of failure to comply with an undertaking in Killarney. Police followed up with the complainant however the matter was unfounded.

Police responded to a 911 hang up call in Boissevain. EMS was contacted and a female was transported to the hospital.

Police received a report of trespassing in the RM of Prairie Lakes. Police followed up with the complainant and the matter was concluded.

Police received a report of uttering threats in Pleasant Valley. Police followed up however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

April 29, 2025

Police received a report under the animal act in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

April 30, 2025

Police responded to a 911 call under the fire prevention act in Ninga. The Fire Department was on scene and police were not required.

 

May 1, 2025

Police received a report of mischief in the RM of Prairie Lakes. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a call under the 911 act in the RM of Brenda-Waskada. A grass fire had gotten away from the land owner and the Fire Department was on scene. Police departed.

Police received a report of failure to comply with an undertaking in Killarney. The matter was unfounded.

Police responded to a call under the fire prevention act in Killarney. Upon arrival the fire had been put out and police were no longer required.

 

May 3, 2025

Police responded to a call for possible arson in the RM of Prairie Lakes. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a call for disturbing the peace in Deloraine. Police spoke with all parties involved and the matter was concluded without charges.

Police responded to a 911 call for disturbing the peace in Killarney. Upon arrival police were informed they were no longer required.

 

May 4, 2025

Police received a request for a wellbeing check in Killarney. All parties were located safe.

 

May 5, 2025

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. The vehicle was not registered and was towed.

Police received a report of harassing communications in Killarney. Police attempted to follow up with the complainant multiple times however were unsuccessful. The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. Police attended and located a vehicle having engine problems with multiple occupants. Police provided them with a ride home.

 

May 6, 2025

Police responded to a 911 call under the fire prevention act in Waskada. A grain elevator was engulfed in flames. Police worked with the Fire Department to contain the fire.

 

May 7, 2025

Police responded to a call for a breach of peace in Killarney. Upon arrival all parties had separated, and the matter was concluded.

Police received a report of harassing communications in Cartwright. Police followed up with the complainant and the matter was deemed unfounded.

 

May 8, 2025

Police responded to a call for a wellbeing check in Belmont. The complainant located the person in question safe while still on the phone with police and determined members were no longer required.

Police responded to a call for an assault in Hartney. A male and a female were both arrested and released on undertakings to appear in court at a later date.

 

May 9, 2025

Police received a report of theft in Boissevain. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. Police located the vehicle and the matter was concluded.

While patrolling, police attempted to complete a traffic stop in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The vehicle attempted to flee from police but hit the ditch. Police proceeded to the vehicle where the driver attempted to flee police on foot. A male was arrested and later released on an appearance notice to appear in court. The vehicle was towed.

Police received a report of a theft of truck in Killarney. Members followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

May 10, 2025

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. Police located the vehicle and spoke with the driver and passenger. All parties were fine, and did not need police assistance. Police departed.

Police responded to a call under the mental health act in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester.

Police responded to a call for disturbing the peace in Deloraine. Police patrolled the area however the suspect was gone on arrival.

 

May 11, 2025

Police received a report of theft in Killarney. Police followed up with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a break and enter in Deloraine. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report under the Municipal by-law act in Waskada. The matter is under investigation.

Police received another report under the Municipal by-law act in Deloraine. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of assault in Killarney. Upon arrival police spoke with the parties involved it was determined there was an argument, but no assault had taken place. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Canadian AntiFraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Canadian Antifraud Centre can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

Due to the many reports of vehicle thefts, the public is reminded to secure parked and unattended vehicles and refrain from leaving valuables in plain view.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. 

Boissevain Detachment business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

RCMP WOULD LIKE TO REMIND THE PUBLIC TO USE THE POLICE EMERGENCY LINE FOR YOUR LOCAL OFFICE (204) 523-7255 or 911.  The administration line may not be checked until the following day or possibly the Monday following a weekend.  Members may be in another community or on the road. 

DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE IF YOU REQUIRE IMMEDIATE POLICE ASSISTANCE, YOU MUST DIAL 204-523-7255 (Killarney), 204-534-7261 (Boissevain), 204-747-2575 (Deloraine) OR 911 TO HAVE A POLICE OFFICER RESPOND TO YOU.  This will dispatch an officer without dispatching ambulance and fire unless required.
