After months of controversy, Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, has appointed a new pastor in hopes of turning the page.

On Sunday, Gateway Church announced through a post on social media that they have hired a new pastor.

"After a lot of prayer, we're thrilled to announce that pastor Daniel Floyd has accepted the call to become the new senior pastor of Gateway Church," said Tra Willbanks, an elder with Gateway Church.

The new pastor, Daniel Floyd, and his wife, Tammie, say they are very excited to be a part of the Gateway family.

"Two things we want you to know: we love family," said Tammie. "We believe it is our greatest ministry. We have four children. Our oldest is 18, and our baby is 6 years old. And the second thing is that we love the local church."

"We believe the local church, when it's mobilized, really is the hope of the world, and we are so expectant to join you in continuing to advance the kingdom of God together," said Floyd.

The church has been without a pastor since Robert Morris, 63, the founder and former senior pastor of Gateway Church, resigned from his leadership role in June 2024, after allegations of indecent behaviour with a minor surfaced dating back to 1982. In March 2025, he was indicted on five counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child. None of the allegations have been proven in court.

Daniel and Tammie are leaving their roles as senior pastors at Lifepoint Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia, to take on this new role. They are the founding pastors of the church, which has grown from 50 people in 2005 to five locations throughout the state.

"We believe God is moving in powerful ways, and there’s so much hope for the future," said the church's elders in a post on social media.

Pastor Daniel holds a Doctorate in Ministry from Southeastern University and two Master's Degrees from Liberty Theological Seminary. Meanwhile, Tammie graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor's in education.

The pair will have their first service in their new church next Sunday.
