More students in the Sioux Lookout area will be able to return to their classrooms soon.

The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Advisory says Pelican Falls First Nations High School is planning for the return of in-person learning as of Semester 2, which begins on January 5, 2022.

Pelican Falls First Nations High School staff add there will be two youth counsellors who have offices at the school and will be working full days on-site to assist with the transition.

PFFNHS students continued to learn virtually throughout the second Quadmester, which ends on December 17, due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

As of December 6, SLFNHA is reporting 10 active cases of COVID-19 in their catchment area, with 7 cases in the last week.

Pelican Falls First Nations High Schools offers culturally relevant education services to students from 24 First Nation communities within the Northern Nishnawbe Education Council and the Nishnawbe Aski Nation.
