Carnie's Comments
As I recall, my parents didn't think it was a good idea for my big brother to take me to the show, but he did and I'm glad I went.
It was September of 1976. I was in grade 6, having just turned 11 years old. My 24-year-old brother took me and a friend to see one of the hottest acts in rock 'n roll at Regina's Exhibition Stadium.
A band called Mahogony Rush opened up and warmed us up for Nazareth. What a show it was! I'd never experienced anything like that before. I thought they were going to blow the roof off the place.
Nazareth had just released their 6th studio album, Hair of the Dog, the year before and of course, the rock 'n roll fans in that jam-packed arena were all on their feet when they played the title track. It was unforgettable.
I was exhausted after the show and suffering from second-hand smoke inhalation, but we made some memories.
And here we are, 49 years later, and Nazareth will be in Moose Jaw at the Temple Gardens Centre on Friday, October 17th on their Canadian Farewell tour.
