Heritage Farms Brewing Company may be new to Winkler’s craft beer scene, but its roots run deep—really deep. Founded by John Trinke (the sixth generation to carry the name on the family farm), the brewery is the latest chapter in a legacy that began back in 1878, when Johann Trinka crossed the Atlantic to settle on this very land.

“My grandfather and my dad are still with us here as well too, and they have both farmed it,” Trinke says. “I’ll be the first John Trinke not to farm this land… but I was looking for a way to continue on the legacy and kind of keep up the John Trinke name.”

So how does one pivot from plowing fields to pouring pints? For Trinke, the answer was clear: combine a family passion for agriculture with a love for beer. That idea is already fermenting into a big dream—eventually growing their own barley and hops to create a truly local “grain to glass” experience.

Bringing the Brewery home—literally

Now, Heritage Farms Brewing is part of the See More Canada Auction, presented by Best Western Hotels & Resorts and Travel Manitoba. And their auction item is turning heads: a custom Heritage Farms kegerator—a fridge-and-tap setup that brings the bar experience right into your home.

“Everyone can drink beer in cans at home,” Trinke laughs. “But can you drink beer on tap at home? A kegerator is essentially a portable fridge and tap system that allows you to get a Heritage Farms keg, put it in there, hook it up, and then you can have beer on tap 24/7 for all your friends and family.”

Locally wrapped and branded by Steel Tree Designs, the unit is as sharp-looking as it is functional—and comes with a bonus.

“For whoever does eventually win it in the auction, we’ll give you 20% off your first keg from Heritage Farms,” says Trinke. “Fill it with Farmer’s Daughter, Harvest, Hired Hand, whatever you want to drink… it’s a great opportunity to show off to your friends how cool you are.”

Where to get Heritage Farms product

Heritage Farms Brewing is already available at Mulligans and other local restaurants and bars, as well as about 70% of Liquor Marts across Manitoba. And if you don’t see it? Just ask.

“If you speak to any of their staff at liquor marts and you don’t see it there—or even at restaurants and bars—then they’re more than likely to reach out to us. And then we can get it in,” Trinke says.
