Just days after a wildfire destroyed its men’s campus in Denare Beach, Adult & Teen Challenge of Central Canada says more of its properties are now in jeopardy as fire conditions worsen.
The organization confirmed the complete loss of its Denare Beach campus on Tuesday, June 3. That included vital equipment such as a newly acquired truck, septic truck, and trailers—resources used to support recovery and training programs for men overcoming addiction.
Now, shifting winds and merging wildfires are threatening additional facilities. The group's vocational shop and staff housing—on a separate lot from the destroyed campus—are directly in the fire’s projected path. Fire crews are actively working to defend those buildings.
Meanwhile, the group’s Community Office in downtown Flin Flon is also under threat. The fire risk in that area has escalated as nearby wildfires continue to grow and converge.
"We are heartbroken by this unfolding situation," the organization shared on social media Friday. "We are deeply grateful for the tireless and courageous work of those on the front lines, many of whom are volunteers, doing all they can to protect lives and property."
The ministry also shared a video supplied by first responders, which shows the destruction of the campus.
