A family-focused event hosted by the St. François Xavier Community Club is set to return Saturday, June 21, with highlights that include a helicopter flyby and landing, a variety of emergency and farm vehicles for children to explore, and a barbecue hosted by the local reeve.
Rural Municipality of St. François Xavier CAO John Visser says this is the second year for the helicopter event, made possible by a local member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. The day kicks off at 10:30 a.m. at the South St. François Xavier Community Club.
He says the day will offer plenty of activities beyond the flyby, including a “Touch-a-Truck” setup featuring fire trucks, ambulances, tow trucks, and farm equipment for kids and adults to explore.
“There’s going to be a kid zone, which they usually do at all their events,” notes Visser. “So it’ll be a family-friendly event on Saturday.”

Reeve Delmer Nott adds that the event was a big success last year and expects strong community turnout once again.
“The kids loved it last year, well received, brought all the community out and together,” says Nott.
“If you come between 11:00 and 12:30, I’ll cook up a hot dog for you because I’ll be barbecuing there,” continues Nott. “So more than happy to take care of everybody that comes and looking forward to this big event for the community.”

Details for the event are posted on the St. François Xavier Community Club’s Instagram and Facebook pages.
Visser also takes time to express appreciation for those organizing the festivities.
“I’d like to thank the community club for all their work in putting this event on for the kids and for the parents and for the community,” adds Visser. “It brings the community together, and that’s what our St. François Community Club Board does.”
