Winnipeg Christian artist and worship leader, Carine Bado, is releasing her first single after a year and a half, with a powerful, underlying story behind it.

"'A Blessing in the Making' is a song I started writing just a few days after the passing of my mom," says Bado. "I went to the Ivory Coast last year for my goodbyes. During the almost 20-hour flight back, the song came into my head with an upbeat tempo."

Bado was unable to get to her mother before she passed away from cancer, but she was able to be with family for the funeral on the West Coast of Africa.

"Coming back to Winnipeg, grieving, with so many different emotions, I felt like it was so easy to get caught up in the negative emotions and not give space for any other emotions. But this is still a song of comfort, of hope. It still gives that perspective that God is working out something for you, even when you can't see it. Even when it's hard, it's been an anthem for me."

Bado's mom was very influential as a choir singer in her life, and a huge reason why she writes and releases music.

"She introduced us to music, and my grandmother as well. That gift comes from my mom's side. She was just the kindest person. She would take us to church, where she would sing. She had such a wonderful impact on my music journey and Christian walk.

Another aspect of this new single is taken from the Lazarus story in the Bible, after he was raised back to life after a few days, by Jesus of Nazareth.

"This song is actually from the perspective of Lazarus. It's had a big impact on my grieving journey, just seeing how Jesus wept."
