The Toronto Blue Jays have one player leading their respective position in votes for the upcoming MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta on July 15.
The latest voting tabulations were shared on Monday by MLB, and Blue Jays first basemen Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is holding a narrow edge over New York Yankees one-bagger Paul Goldschmidt for the top spot. Vladdy topped the list with 1,192,604 votes, Goldy not too far behind with 1,118,501 votes.
The next closest Blue Jay player to first place is catcher Alejandro Kirk at 757,659 votes, over 50,000 clear of Detroit Tigers backstop Dillon Dingler for third place. Kirk will have a hard time catching heavy favourite in Seattle Mariners MVP candidate Cal Raleigh, as a big dump of ballots have the slugger and platinum glove winner nearing 2 million votes.
Other all-star contenders from the Jays include Bo Bichette in fourth for shortstops, Andreas Gimenez fifth in voting for second base, Addison Barger fourth for third base, Anthony Santander in sixth for Designated Hitter, and then George Springer, Daulton Varsho, and Nathan Lukes are eight, eleventh, and fourteenth on the list for outfielders.
