Twenty-five years ago, a local Manitoban woman asked God for a Christian radio station, and He answered quicker than she ever expected.
"I was going to work one morning, I start work at 7:15, and I always listen to the radio," says Anne, an avid CHVN listener. "I was getting tired of listening to secular music."
In September 2000, Anne asked God for a change.
"I said to the Lord, 'Lord, can there be a Christian radio station. Like I want to listen to Christian music on the way to work.' Within a week, the Lord answered my prayers because there was an announcement that your Christian radio station was coming."
Anne says there are many reasons she appreciates listening to CHVN throughout the week.
"I've been so blessed. I've been listening to CHVN for the last 25 years. The Lord blessed me tremendously. What I love about CHVN is the encouragement that I get. Getting to know what's going on in the community in Manitoba. And the songs. Sometimes I'm driving to work and a song will come up with a song that just touches my heart."
CHVN is celebrating the past 25 years with a Birthday Bash! Anyone interested in celebrating can enter to win a $10,000 prize of their choice by listening to CHVN 95.1 FM, filling out this form, and/or finding Faith Adeyemi in the summer cruiser during different events. The station will choose 100 qualifiers before the event in September, and of those hundred, one person will win their choice of $10,000 prize.
"All the listeners that listen to CHVN, there are times in our lives when we go through valleys. It's so encouraging to hear a song that would come on and minister to our hearts. When it ministers to us, we can go on to minister to others."
