The Chosen will soon be available for fans in Canada to stream online.

The hit show following the ministry of Jesus through the eyes of the disciples is set to be released on Prime Video on July 13, 2025.

Abe Bueno-Jallad, who portrays Big James, is excited for fans to go through the moments leading up to Holy Week. "We go from Lazarus' resurrection, which is this big, huge moment. All the way into the triumphal entry into the chaos that is flipping the merchants' tables."

Season 5 is a big shift, according to Bueno-Jallad. "I feel like we've already passed the love stages and we're getting into the real meat, the real heaviness that really solidifies Jesus's message.

"Season 5 was such a challenge because we really had to capture that shift and it happens in the show. It really takes off from the first few seconds with the Last Supper, but then we start to like delineate and piece together how we have arrived at the Last Supper."

Bueno-Jallad has been playing Big James since Season 2 and while he says each role he takes on requires personalization to an extent, he is able to connect with this role. "The thing that has stood out to me is the strength that he tries to have in all moments and even how that fails him. Being gung-ho and asking to be in Jesus's right hand or being the first one to get hit by the rock on the head because he tried to save Jesus.

"Also, Big James has this very soft side that's not always sure of himself. And I think that's also very true," he said.

Bueno-Jallad said that since taking on the role, the Bible has come to life more than ever before. "I definitely had to go back and reread stuff that I heard someone say or a series of events and this is how they happen. But then to actually be in there and play it moment to moment, it gives it this 3D effect that it never had for me anyway."

While filming season 5, he said there were several moments that stood out to him. "Shooting in that room in the Last Supper and feeling the intimacy of that moment and what He was trying to say and His body, the bread. It's almost too much for me. There are so many great moments and sometimes I feel like there are not enough episodes."

Season 6 of The Chosen is currently in production.
