A woman who inspired thousands of listeners with her story of healing and hope during last month's Nobody But Jesus Radiothon on CHVN now faces heartbreaking news.
Emily, a recent graduate of Union Gospel Mission’s Charis Centre, shared her story of struggling with addiction since the age of 11. After many attempts to get sober over the years, including several stays at the Charis Centre, she was finally able to find complete healing through Jesus over the past year.
However, just as she was preparing to graduate and begin the journey of reconciling with her children and regaining custody, she received a devastating diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer. During the radiothon, she shared her incredible joy despite the difficult news.
Now, Emily has learned that her chemotherapy treatments have failed to shrink her tumours. Doctors have informed her she likely has only six months to live if she chooses to stop treatment—a decision Emily has already made.
Despite this devastating prognosis, Emily’s outlook remains astonishingly hopeful. Staff at Charis Centre shared her remarkable reaction to the news, recalling her excited words: "I might get to meet Jesus in six months!"
Emily’s story has deeply touched many hearts, particularly given her incredible journey of overcoming addiction and her determination to restore her relationship with her children.
Her steadfast faith continues to provide her peace and strength in facing this latest challenge.
Union Gospel Mission is asking supporters to lift Emily and her two young children in prayer during this incredibly difficult time.
