The Saskatoon Berries made one last stop in Alberta after a 2-2 road trip against Okotoks and Lethbridge. Six Berries were part of the WCBL All-Star festivities, pitchers Tanner Hosick and Matt Whitney, joining position players catcher Bailyn Sorensen, infielders Abiam Medina and Ethan Menard, and finally outfielder Carter Beck.

Menard, a native of Louisiana, competed in the home run derby before the game. He might have had a little extra Cajun fueled juice in the tank with some special visitors in attendance at Seaman Stadium from back home.

Menard slugged seven home runs in the first round. He didn't make it to the finals, Matt Rhoades of the Fort MacMurray Giants winning against Weyburn's Ian Heck.

Fast forward to the game and Menard's power stroke continued. He slugged a homer in his only at-bat of the game and took home MVP honours in a 10-3 win for the East Division over the West.

If that wasn't sweet enough, the WCBL shared a special announcement before the game regarding the host for the 2026 All-Star weekend.

There's nothing but excitement around the bush these days.

Putting the all-star fun behind them, the Berries stayed south and travelled to Weyburn for a quick restart to the season on Sunday. Unfortunately, the game was rained out, but the Berries and Beavers played a Monday doubleheader with Saskatoon winning both games 9-2 and 14-2.

The Berries are in Swift Current tonight before a day-off on Wednesday. After tonight's game against the 57's, they will welcome in Swift Current to Saskatoon on Thursday, before heading back to Swift Current on Friday for their final game of the season series.

After those games only 9 remain on the regular season schedule. The Berries have three more home games in July and then three straight in August to close out the calendar before playoffs where they will attempt to harvest some postseason success.
