Adult and Teen Challenge are temporarily opening up a furniture store with some amazing deals, which in turn will help their addiction recovery programs.

"The discount furniture super thrift store sale is an exciting opportunity for our ministry to raise some much-needed extra funds," says Daniel Emond, the Chief Executive Officer of Adult and Teen Challenge (ATC) of Central Canada. "We're quite behind this year."

The Super Thrift Store in Winnipeg helps support ATC by providing work for men and women in the program, as well as raising funds to keep the addiction program going. They recently moved to a new location.

"We had an opportunity in moving our thrift store to partner and purchase a large warehouse full of brand new furniture that we can now offer to the public at 50 per cent off."

The temporary furniture store is open to the public on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. The store is located at 1016 St. James St., Winnipeg.

"All the money raised will go to help fight addiction here in Manitoba and help put hope within reach of families that are dealing with addiction," says Emond.

CHVN's Sylvia St. Cyr and Faith Adeyemi will be live on location on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Update on Denare Beach ATC

During the recent wildfires up in northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan, the men's addiction recovery program house in Denare Beach burnt to the ground.

"It's very smoky. We're super thankful for all the prayers and support thus far. We're really thankful for other partner agencies like Samaritans' Purse who's on the ground here, being extremely helpful, serving many families that have lost everything."

The program is on hold in Denare Beach currently as the staff wait for all of the assessments with insurance. At this point, it's hard for ATC staff to know what the future holds, but they put their trust in God.

"We need continued prayers and major financial support. We still immediate needs of our family, staff, and students here. Prayers are coveted and if you can give to help us continue on the work, in Denare Beach, Flin Flon, and northern Manitoba, we need that."
