Weyburn is celebrating local history as Heritage Village Days return. The event-packed weekend promises a variety of sights, vendors, and activities for the whole family.
Summer staff member and tour coordinator at the Heritage Village, Rio Lopez, says that all of the village buildings will be open for people to tour alongside the events and performances.
“We're pretty excited. Lots of good performers, pretty well-known names in the Saskatchewan music scene. There's going to be a whole bunch of different events like rope making and butter making and ice cream making. And we're hopefully going to have a sheep herder if it's not too hot.”
Admission is free, though donations supporting the Heritage Village are encouraged. Another way to show support is through volnteering, as Lopez says there are still a few positions to fill.
“We usually just do two-hour shifts. We’re trying to put up some posters to try to get those last few house spots filled. The school is open on Friday, and a couple barbecue spots. Just looking for the last bit of volunteers.”
Inquiries about volunteering can be made by contacting the Heritage Village at (306) 842-6377 or heritagevillage@weyburn.ca.
Heritage Village Days will be running on August 8th and 9th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
