August long weekend is upon us, with a statutory holiday on Monday in honour of Saskatchewan Day. This weekend is a jam-packed weekend here in the southeast, with families having their pick of events from which to choose, amid what is likely to be perfect weather.

The Souris Valley Antique Association (SVAA) is preparing for the 59th Annual Heritage Threshing Days in Midale, taking place this long weekend. The rodeo tonight kicks off a weekend filled with various events in Midale, including trade show vendors, a flea market, a live blacksmithing demonstration, and concession booths at Heritage Village, and the Midale Classy Car Show & Shine on Main Street on Sunday.

The Weyburn Beavers will have their final two games of the season tonight and tomorrow night at Tom Laing Park as they host the Medicine Hat Mavericks at 7 p.m.

Those hoping to keep it low-key but wouldn't mind getting out this weekend in Weyburn, the Weyburn Art Gallery currently has two exhibitions on display, and River Park has the Get Out Gallery for enjoying some art in nature.

Keeping it even more low-key doesn't mean there is not some exploring to do within your own yard, as the Nature Conservancy of Canada's Bio Blitz is still going. You can take part by contribution valuable information and learning more about what's growing and buzzing around your garden.
