The Lighthouse Church in Weyburn will host 'True North: Trusting Jesus in a Wild World', a three-day camp in August for children ages five to 12.

"This is a free event, and we do ask parents to register their kids so we know how many to expect," shared Susan Adderley.

"We've been busy planning a fun, action-packed, guaranteed fun-filled three days for all the kids at the camp. Our events include games, music, dance, drama, talent show, crafts, scavenger hunts, water fights, snacks, Bible stories, movies, just to name a few."

She said the camp will run August 12th, 13th, and 14th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will have a wilderness theme.

"We'll be learning and exploring the Great Canadian North, which features all the animals, the birds, the sea creatures, the forests, the lakes, rivers, mountains, and of course, my favorite, the Aurora Borealis, the spectacular Northern Lights, and we even have our special light show planned."

"It's okay if you can't come for all three days. That's totally fine."

Parents will need to send their children with a packed lunch, but snacks will be provided. Other than a scavenger hunt and water fights outside, most of the activities will be taking place on the lower level of the Lighthouse Church in Weyburn, which is gymnasium-sized.

"We have lots of room in the gym downstairs, and we had a full house last year, and I think we're going to break the record this year," said Adderley. "Registrations are coming in, so get registering so you can reserve a spot."

The number to register is 306-436-3107.

"You can make some new friends, and we have kids from all over Weyburn, from different denominations, and some don't go to church, and that's fine. Everyone's welcome. We just want to know how many are coming. That's why the registration is very important, so we can prepare accordingly."

She noted that their church has volunteers helping out with the day camps, as well as some of the members of their youth group.

"There are a lot of special moments during these camps."
