It became available to the general public in 2006. I joined in 2008. I've enjoyed it for about 17 years now. It is Facebook.
I think it's great. I'm there for amusement and to do some entertaining myself from time to time and to stay informed about what's topical for friends and acquaintances. It's useful that way.
For me, the novelty has never worn off and, it turns out, I'm in the majority.
An estimated 32.2 million Canadians are Facebook users. That's about 77% of the population.
It's interesting to note, women make up over half of Facebookers in our country and the 25-34 age group is the largest demographic.
Facebook is still the #1 social media platform in Canada with Instagram, TikTok and X, formerly Twitter, rounding out the top four.
I find it kind of strange when I post on X where I have 1455 followers, I don't get much reaction but on Instagram, with just 866 followers, I get dozens of clicks. Maybe the people of Instagram are more friendly.
However, at the end of the day, my favourite social media platform is the original. It's called RADIO.
