One of the brothers in the Christian band for KING & COUNTRY is expanding his talents once again, starring in an upcoming movie alongside A-listed actors.

Joel Smallbone will be acting in the upcoming film Young Washington, alongside well-known actor Sir Ben Kingsley of Gandhi and Schindler's List, as well as Andy Serkis of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Production of the film depicting a young George Washington will begin later in August.

Smallbone will be playing the role of William Fairfax, a cunning aristocrat and friend-turned-rival who moves effortlessly through the British upper class.

"Grateful beyond measure (and sort of mind blown) to be joining Ben Kingsley and Andy Serkis in “Young Washington!” Which Chronicles, the early years of George Washington," says Smallbone on Instagram.

Previously, Smallbone acted in his family's story of moving seven children from Australia to the U.S.A. He took on the role of his father in the film, portraying the deep hardships the family endured after moving, before three of the kids went on to achieve success in Christian music.

"Bringing chapters of history to the screen is something that me and my brothers have always been moved by.. we grew up on Lord of the Rings and Gladiator and The Patriot. It can be powerful to look back on earlier times .. sometimes one has to know where you’ve been to where you’re going… even as a nation and world."

Jon Erwin, co-founder of Wonder Project and known for faith-based hits like Jesus Revolution and I Can Only Imagine is directing the film.
