It's Throwback Thursday - just a minute to remember the good ol' days.

It was a question on social media that sparked a memory for me today; "Why is it you can trust your dog to guard your house but not your sandwich?"

It takes me back to childhood and Sunday supper at the house. Sometimes my three siblings and I were allowed to eat in the living room so we could watch "The Wonderful World of Disney" on TV.

I was 5 or 6. My sisters and brother were teenagers.

We were having ham with potatoes, gravy and peas and carrots. The telephone rang. My mom, in the kitchen, answered it and called my big brother to the phone.

He left his supper plate on the couch and as soon as he left the room our fat, female beagle, Cleo, bolted for the couch and scarfed down his whole plate of food in seconds. She was so fast we couldn't react. So, we laughed. Oh, did we laugh as we waited for big brother to come back to see what had happened.

Cleo was still licking up the gravy when he came around the corner.

He was not amused and neither was dad. The rest of us were!
