Boxing superstar and former politician Manny Pacquiao recently used his platform to spread the gospel in an unexpected place.
In July 2025, Pacquiao, 46, returned to the ring in Vegas for fight week after a four-year hiatus.
Pacquiao, the only eight-division world champion in boxing history, took on Mario Barrios in hopes of beating his record to become the oldest ever welterweight. However, Barrios went on to win that match.
While in Vegas, and leading up to the fight, Pacquiao, who loves sharing the word of God, held Bible studies in his hotel for anyone interested in participating.
"Boxing is just one part of my life," said Pacquiao during a press conference. "But my real mission is to share God’s Word and encourage people to live by it. Even during fight week, that doesn’t stop."
"In everything I do,” said Pacquiao, "I want to glorify God. Whether in the ring or in a small room with a Bible open, that’s what matters most."
During one of the Bible studies, Pacquiao told those in attendance that the fight came second.
"The most important thing is, can we invite all our friends to attend the Bible study? We love God, we love God. Because God is good all the time in our lives."
For Pacquiao, Bible Studies were a non-negotiable.
"I’m here in the Word of God because this is life, this is eternity," said Pacquiao in a video posted on Instagram. "All that we have in this world, material things, positions, it’s nothing, just temporary. But the Word of God is alive and forever."
Pacquiao plans to return to the ring to take on Mario Barrios in December.
