Cattle farmers, grain producers, acreage owners and treasure hunters in and around MacGregor, Portage la Prairie and the Central Plains Region will have a chance to take part in a large consignment sale from August 4-11.
The sale, operated by Unrau Auctions of MacGregor, will feature livestock equipment, large and small implements and recreational vehicles, as well as antiques and other interesting items. Bidding will take place online, and Unrau staff will be on hand for official viewing days on August 8 and 9 at the auction site between Rd 62 and 63 West, right off the TransCanada Highway.
As Unrau Auctions Ltd. owner Josh Unrau explains, the size of the sale might have something to do with the presence of his new business.
“We haven’t been here very long,” he says. “As more people find out about what we do here, we’ve definitely been seeing sales getting bigger every year.”
Among the featured items at Unrau’s 2025 consignment sale is a 9610 John Deere combine. It’s a fairly low-hour machine in good condition, and it’s always been kept in the shed. Other harvest implements include combine and corn headers.
“We also have a really nice Case 5230 front wheel-assist loader tractor,” says Unrau. “It’s a great chore tractor and it’s been well looked after. We’ve also got some smaller front wheel-assist loader tractors in the 70-80 horsepower range for acreage owners or people with a few animals on a small-scale farm.”
Bidders may also be interested in the Kubota SVL 90 skid steer, and cattle farmers can have a look at free-standing panels and handling equipment.
They might also be interested in buying some hay bales. Ten loads of bales from Gladstone, Austin and MacGregor will be included in the sale, and given the dry weather this summer there’s likely going to be considerable demand.
Finally, adrenaline-seekers and treasure-hunters will be sure to find what they’re looking for on the Unrau Auctions lot.
“If you look through the smaller lots of the sale, there’s always a few treasures in there. I know there’s a couple antique items and a super-old radio,” says Unrau. “There are also ATVs in the sale. We have something for everyone here.”
Rookie online bidders are welcome to get a hold of Unrau if they need a hand signing up for the sale.
“They can give me a call any time, and I’ll help walk them through the registration,” he says. “It’s pretty simple if you go on the website and follow the links to register. It’s a strictly-timed online auction, but it’s pretty easy to do even if it’s your first time.
