Todays Great Plains Taste of Summer Charity barbeque saw a steady flow of visitors, showing up to support The Weyburn Humane Society. Community members purchased a hotdog, chips, and a drink for only $3, with some people stopping by just to donate. In total, $764.35 was raised for the organization.

Board Chair with the Weyburn Humane Society, Bev Paul, says she wasn't prepared for the strong turnout.

"It was just totally awesome. I didn't really expect the turnout that was here and it's such a good idea. I hope you keep doing it."

They were also selling tickets for their Ride for Paws, Support the Cause Vehicle raffle, that recently saw an extension to the draw date to bring up ticket sales. Paul says they were able to sell at least a dozen tickets in those three and a half hours.

The funds raised today will support the shelters operating costs. Paul expresses her thanks to everyone who contributed to the events success.

"Our appreciation goes out to you for doing this for us and we couldn't have had a better turnout for sure. So whoever was involved in putting this on, we thank them."

The next and final Great Plains Taste of Summer Charity Barbeque will be on August 28th at Memorial Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in support of The Salvation Army.
