Pastor Greg Laurie is recovering after undergoing hip surgery on Tuesday.
"Please pray for me as I'm going to the hospital to get a hip replacement," said Laurie in a post on social media. "Now I should tell you, I should've gotten this a long time ago. I've been postponing it, and it's become more painful for me, so I finally agreed to a surgery date."
He says he's gone from being a hippie to needing a hip replacement, and he's gone from acid rock to acid reflux.
"You know, the amazing thing is I've made it for 72 years without ever checking into a hospital," said Laurie. "I've never had a single surgery, but now I'm having one, so I'd appreciate it if you would pray that the surgery would go well and be successful."
His wife, Cathe, posted an update later in the day saying the surgery went really well.
"Thank you for your prayers, it made a huge difference!!" said Cathe. "All the nurses and doctors attending him were simply fantastic!"
Greg Laurie is the senior pastor at Harvest Church in Orange County, California.
Harvest Church, which has three locations in California and one in Hawaii, was founded by Laurie in 1973. He continues to preach as Lead Pastor.
