The guitarist of the Christian rock band Kutless, James Mead, is slowly healing after he had a stroke in July.

"I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who has supported me and my family since my stroke on July 26th," says Kutless on social media. "Your generosity, kindness, and encouragement have meant the world to us - we truly wouldn't be where we are without you."

Mead has been on the road to recovery, which includes many new routines and exercises.

"I'm grateful to share that I'm making steady progress during my recovery. I'm walking better, and I've been focusing on new exercises that challenge my coordination and balance. Every day is a step forward in rebuilding endurance and promoting neuroplasticity, and my doctors and physical therapists are very encouraged by how far I've come."

The community has stepped up in a big way to help the Mead family, including cutting their grass, giving meals or finances, and sending encouraging messages.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported and prayed for James and his family. Your kindness and generosity mean more than you know. They feel held and cared for in ways that words can’t fully express."

Although the doctors are unsure of what Mead's full recovery will look like, the band and Mead family are encouraged by how far he's already come.
