A Kindersley family is asking for prayers and financial support as their six-year-old son begins months of treatment following a brain tumour diagnosis earlier this summer.
On Aug. 11, doctors at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon discovered a three-centimetre tumour in Ghio Villanea. He underwent surgery two days later, but physicians found fragments that had already started to grow.
Ghio is now preparing for chemotherapy and radiation therapy on September 10th, a process expected to take several months.
The family says the diagnosis has been life-changing and that they are reaching out to the community for help as they face the challenges ahead.
A GoFundMe page has been launched by family friend Karen Casino to help cover daily needs, travel and accommodation costs, and ongoing medical expenses while the Villaneas remain in Saskatoon for treatment.
“Any help, big or small, would make a huge difference and bring hope to their journey,” Casino wrote on the fundraiser page.
As of this week, community members continue to share words of encouragement and donations for the family.
