The Southern Manitoba Choral Society is ready to kick off their Fall season, everyone is welcome to join the choir and sing together in harmony!
The Choir
Ben Kroeker is the conductor for the Southern Manitoba Choral Society, and he shared what they are all about, "So this is a choir that's made-up of a wide age range and wide levels of abilities as well. But we're really open to anybody who just loves to sing. This choir, the Southern Manitoba Choral Society, has a rich history of being around in the Altona area for many years. So I'm privileged to be leading it right now. But really, we're open to anybody who loves to sing, and a passion of mine is vocal technique and singing in a healthy way. So if people are maybe nervous, maybe they haven't sung in a few years and they're feeling like their instrument's a bit out of shape, a big passion of mine is being open to that and walking through that with people and helping them kind of get back into singing."
Practices
Ben also touched on the practice schedule, "Practices happen on Tuesday evenings from 6.30 to 8.30 p.m. They happen at W.C. Miller Collegiate in the music room, in the choir room down in the basement. Except for our very first rehearsal. Our very first rehearsal on September 9th is going to be held at the Altona Berghthaler Church. which is located at 117 2nd Street Northwest. All the following practices happen at the Collegiate."
How to join
Contact Sarah Dueck @ 204-324-7144
Bring your $35 registration fee (cash or cheque) to the first practice tonight (Sept 9th) at the Bergthaler Church or next week Tuesday (Sept 16th) to W.C Miller.
Conductor Ben Kroeker sent out an open invitation, " I would encourage people, though, definitely come join us. Or if you're not so sure about it, you just want to check it out for a rehearsal, come on down and check it out for a rehearsal or two. See if it's something that's good for you. It's an awesome way to get connected with other community members, working towards a shared goal, and especially with singing, it's a great way to get involved and maybe meet some new friends."
