The playground at Heritage Heights School was officially reopened on Friday, Sept. 12.

Several new elements were added, including saucer swings, a merry-go-round, an off-roader, a playhouse, and a "DreamWeaver" climbing net.

Funding came from a few sources, including grants and community fundraising.

Principal Rita Marie Rahn said support went beyond money.

"Other contributions included concrete and rubber matting and building a ramp so it's accessible for students. So many people came out and helped with volunteering their time for laying and watering sod. So it wasn't just about money donations, it was a lot of heart and soul donations to our school, and we're so grateful."

The school also made the most of the funding it had.

"We also had a fantastic design element, which allowed us to reuse what we had, so we didn't start over, because playgrounds are really expensive, said Rahn. "We reused and repurposed some of the things we already had, which also decreased the costs we needed to fundraise and provided this beautiful playground."

The K-9 school held a celebration on Friday, where students and parent volunteers could enjoy the new play equipment along with hot dogs, ice cream, and a petting zoo.
