A West End ministry is inviting Manitobans to get an inside look and meet the family.
Living Bible Explorers (LBE) is hosting a fall fundraiser called, Meet the Family Fall Fundraiser.
"The backbone of our ministry is the people who serve in it. We can't do programming or be in relationship with people without those who give their lives to this," Cher Paulson, Executive Director of Living Bible Explorers, said.
For over 56 years, LBE has served the West End of Winnipeg and offered programming for families. "I'm so excited because we are having what we're calling Meet the Family Fall Fundraiser because we want people to come and hear about what God's doing, and see the people He's doing it through and how they got to Jesus. I want you to hear how they got to Living Bible Explorers and what keeps them here."
The operational fundraiser has a big goal, but Paulson is excited to see what God is going to do. "We want to raise $45,000 and we're just going to say, 'God, what can You do?' Because can we do it? No, we cannot. But I believe that together God can do it. And I believe that He's going to speak to specific people who would come learn about what we do and hear from these amazing missionaries."
Over the years LBE has made an impact in thousands of lives, and one returned to help serve. "He came to work for us part-time and now he's full-time," Paulson said.
"He was there a couple of months before he realized, as a seven-year-old kid, I came here. This is why this building looks familiar. I came to LBE as a seven-year-old kid and what a full circle moment for him that he is now in ministry at the place where he first heard about Jesus."
Besides hearing from LBE staff, participants will be able to enjoy a charcuterie and dessert buffet. "It'll be relaxed, but it'll be fun. We're going to do an interview-style and hopefully you'll get to know each of the staff a little bit more, their personal lives, what brought them to Jesus, what brought them to LBE."
Meet the Family Fall Fundraiser is at Grant Church, 877 Wilkes Avenue on September 27. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. before the program starts at 6 p.m.
