TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club is preparing to close out what General Manager and Head Professional Amanda Minchin says was one of their strongest years in recent memory. The official last day of the season is set for October 19, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, if the weather holds.
“It was a great season,” Minchin said. “There were a lot more rainy days this year than we’ve had probably in the last five years, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The spring was a little bit wetter than we’re used to, but that was fine. We had a great season, our memberships were up, our junior golf was up, and we were as busy as ever.”
Minchin added that the golf course conditions stood out throughout the summer. “The golf course was in great shape all year,” she said. “It was just an overall good year and a good way to enter into the winter season.”
The club’s major tournaments also shone as highlights. “Our OTS is always a big flagship, and our August Classic was another great success this year,” said Minchin. “It sold out, it was a great weekend, and it showcased our golf course to a lot of golfers from around the province.”
Alongside tournament play, the restaurant and golf shop both had a steady year of business. “It’s an overall positive year,” she noted.
While the season is wrapping up quickly, Minchin reminded the community that Woodlawn remains a hub beyond the golf course. “If you are looking for a Christmas party, give us a call,” she said. “We’ll hook you up with Tracey Tuchscherer, our food and beverage manager, and maybe you can spend Christmas with us.”
