Mozart at 266: Celebrate Mozart’s Birthday with Classic 107
Tune in this Thursday, January 27, 2022 to Classic 107 as we raise a glass (or microphone) to celebrate Mozart’s 266 years of Mozart.
Mozart’s music will be front and centre on the station with full performances of two concertos, one symphony, and a full performance of Mozart’s uplifting Mass in C minor.
At 9:00am tune in to hear Mozart’s symphony no 36, known as his “Linz Symphony.” Truly one of the true masterpieces of Mozart’s Symphonic output, hear it a spectacular recording made by the Danidh Chamber Orchestra led by Adam Fischer.
Then at 11:00am, Simeon Rusnak will feature a full performance of Mozart’s spellbinding Mass in C Minor, in a legendary recording made the Academy of St. Martin in Fields and Chorus.
At 1:00pm, Chris Wolf will be continuing his survey of Mozart’s Five Violin Concertos. Tune in to hear a stunning performance of Mozart’s 4th Violin Concerto in D performed by Viktoria Mullova on violin, alongside the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment
At 8:00pm join Terry Klippenstein, as he presents a performance of Mozart’s last piano concerto. His piano concerto no 27, as performed by the exquisite pianist Alicia De Larrocha.
In addition, music inspired by Mozart will also be heard from such composers, as Beethoven Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and others.
