Canada Day Schedule for Portage

From pancake breakfasts to fireworks, Canada Day is back in a big way and the celebration is on. Food, children's activities and live entertainment will be found in communities all around the region.

In Portage, the Rotary Club will fire things up early with the ever-popular breakfast. Hi-Lites of the day include the unveiling of the new Queen's Platinum Jubilee Garden at 11 am, the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Duck Race, and the fireworks at dusk. The activities will be centered around Stride Place and Island Park.

To the south, Elm Creek is getting in on the fun with, you guessed it, a free pancake breakfast starting at 8:30 am. Also, look for a  parade, BBQ lunch, dunk tank, kids train, pony rides, petting zoo, photo booth, bouncy castles, children's entertainer, balloons, slow-pitch tournament, antique threshing, 4H beef club show, truck & tractor pull and fireworks!

Also to the south, Roseisle is another spot known for celebrating the day each year and they will be at it again. It's a waffle breakfast that will start the day in the park at 8 am while other activities include baseball, barrel train rides and lawn mower races.

In Holland, they plan to start the party a day early with the celebrations going Thursday. Everything from kids' activities, a classic car parade to a free concert with Quinton Blair are on the schedule here. And the late-night fireworks will ring in Canada Day.

If you are a baseball player or have kids that play, there is a good chance you may be spending the day in Clearwater. Their annual baseball tournament, which covers all ages, is back for the 71st year.

If you like live music, one of Canada's best will be stopping by the Ag Grounds in Killarney. The Hunter Brothers will cap off a day full of activity in the picturesque community.

If you would like to spend the day at the beach, a quick drive up Highway 50 will get you to Hollywood Beach! It's here you will find the RM of Westlake Gladstone celebrating the big day.

Although it is not a Canada Day event per se, it starts on Canada Day and the celebration is on with Kendra Kay performing that night. It is the 137th Carberry Fair and Races!
