I hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend and had a chance to reflect on all that is good in your life and all that you have.
It's so great that Thanksgiving is a time designated to focus on what we are thankful for, but there are so many benefits - physically, spiritually and financially - to making gratitude a regular habit, not just a one-weekend-a-year thing.
On the financial side, when we do not focus on gratitude for what we have and continually reflecting on it, it's easy to focus on what we do not have. It's easy to pay attention to what others have causing envy and a discontentment within us.
Discontentment is often a huge cause for poor financial decisions - spending money that we do not have, on things that we do not actually need, to impress people that we may not even like.
Or that discontentment can cause us to spend money on things in an attempt to feel better. This generally does not work, and it puts us in a poorer financial position.
When we take time on a daily basis to remind ourselves what is good, all that we have, and where we have been provided for, a heart of contentment builds within us slowly. This helps us make better financial decisions today, reminding us of what we have and the difference between what we want and what we actually need.
Try it, and watch your contentment grow and your financial decisions begin to improve.
I truly believe following this tip can put you in a position of financial strength going forward because as you control your spending, you avoid the debt which enslaves and/or you increase your ability to save for our future.
Tip of the Week.
Daily reflect on what is good and what you have in your life.
I'd be surprised if it doesn't change your life.
If you are already doing this, I'd love to hear how it's changed your life - personally, spiritually, and financially.
