"Too many people leave their life up to fate and wander aimlessly inside a directionless story. But fate is a terrible writer. It robs us of meaning and stifles our productivity. It’s time to take back control of our lives and create a life full of direction and meaning..." - Donald Miller

Donald Miller goes on to share that you need a daily routine to remind you where your life is headed, but what he doesn't mention is that a money routine will help you get there.

A money routine is simply a plan for how you direct your money, every time you get paid.
Your money routine will be different from my money routine, and mine will be different than the next person, but I do believe the same 3 things should be at the top of everyone's money routine.
We talked about the first one last week (read here).

Here's the 2nd.

Tip of the Week.
Direct money from every paycheck toward intentionally living your values, and reaching your goals.

If you haven't written down how you want to live, what you value, and goals for your future, that's where you should start. After all, “A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.”

If you recall from my intro to Money Routines (You can read it here), one of the first things in Amy's and my money routine is to direct 5% of every paycheck toward our values of hospitality, and random acts of kindness.

What do you value? What gets you excited and brings you joy? Make a plan to do those things and get out and do it. Write them out, and set aside some of your income from every paycheck to actually do the stuff you really value.

With 2020 coming to an end, now would be a great time to start thinking about where you want to head, to write it down and prepare to move toward it starting in 2021.

Tip of the Week
Direct money from every paycheck toward intentionally living your values, and reaching your goals.
