The Christmas season is approaching, and the Salvation Army is looking for some help.
The Salvation Army's Christmas Kettle Campaign will kick off at the end of the month and they are looking for community members to raise their hand in volunteering their time.
"One thing that a lot of people don't know is that the Kettle Campaign is what funds a lot of the Salvation Army programming locally throughout the year. For example, Emergency Services. If someone's home is lost to a fire and they need help, a lot of the funding for that comes directly from the Kettle Campaign. All the money that is raised here will stay in Kenora," says Stuart Walter, Christmas Kettle Coordinator.
The Kettles will be set up throughout Kenora including Canadian Tire, Walmart, No Frills and Safeway on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
"Volunteers would work two hour shifts (or more if they'd like) and it's very simple. You put on the apron when you get there, smile and say thank you when someone makes a donation!" Walter adds.
To volunteer, contact the Salvation Army at 807-468-8452 or send an email to stuart.walter@salvationarmy.ca.
