Throughout the week, Classic 107 will be introducing this year’s Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg Scholarship winners.

The 2022 Berythe Birse $1,000 Scholarship was awarded to tenor Kyle Briscoe, who got the call from the WMC while driving to meet some friends.

“It’s such an honour and a surprise,” says Briscoe, noting that hard work has paid off.

A graduate of the University of Manitoba Desautels Faculty of Music in the Performance concentration, Briscoe has already established himself as a mainstay in the Manitoba music scene.

His artistry values creation, arts advocacy, digital content, and leadership through vulnerability, championing self-love and discovery.

“I’ve been through a lot in my life and what that’s taught me is to always make the most of every situation,” says Briscoe frankly.

He joins an illustrious list of past winners and recitalists supported by the Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg throughout their long existence.

Hear all six of this year’s WMC Scholarship winners at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28 at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
