Paige McCulloch, the Youth Councillor for the City of Portage la Prairie, is teaming up with her classmates to host a 5K Family Fun Run/Walk on June 3rd at the Island Grandstand. The event aims to bring families and friends closer while raising funds for the Family Resource Centre, an organization that helps support families in and around the community.
The event kicks off at 10:00 in the morning and wraps up around 2:00 in the afternoon. Paige McCulloch explains the goals of the Fun Run.
"As the Youth Councilor, I really aim to help the youth in the community." She shares. "The Family Resource Centre does that every day. And so, we thought that it was a good connection. I've worked with them in the past and even volunteered for them."
The Family Resource Centre provides services to individuals and families, including counseling, crisis intervention, parenting support, and youth outreach. By selecting the Family Resource Centre as the event's beneficiary, McCulloch and her team aim to raise funds that directly benefit local youth and families.
The 5K Family Fun Run/Walk is not just for humans, it's a pet-friendly event too! Dog owners are encouraged to bring their well-trained friends on a leash. Families with young children can also join in with strollers, ensuring everyone can participate comfortably.
If you can't make it at 10:00 in the morning, no worries! You can join anytime between 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M., ensuring a convenient and enjoyable experience for all.
Mark your calendars for June 3rd and be part of this initiative. Put on your running shoes, leash up your furry friends, and head to the starting line for a day of fun that brings families closer and makes a real difference in our community.
