This weekend, learn history and catch some baseball action in our southeast communities.
The Gardenton Ukrainian Multicultural Festival is on Saturday, July 15, and it kicks off with a church service at 10:30 AM and a tour of St. Michael’s Church tour at 11 AM.
President Kelvin Chubaty says this has been an annual festival since 1965, and “anybody is welcome to the event.”
“We have the museum with all artifacts and stuff from the local pioneers, and they wanted to have a festival every year to celebrate that. So that's why this is still continuing,” Chubaty says.
Starting at 1 PM, there will be 22 group performers taking the stage, including African, Ukrainian, and Irish dancing groups and more! There will also be a canteen, beer garden, and kids’ activities.
They wrap up the festival at 7 PM with an evening dance and perogies supper featuring Wild Ridge.
The admission fees are $15 for adults, and kids 12 and under are free. There will be kids’ activities available for $5.
He adds he is excited for “everybody to come out and have a good time.”
We will be there from noon to 3 PM with Wendy’s Show Us Your Summer and Taylor or Trailer.
Many ball tournaments are happening this weekend, and we will be there for the U13 AAA Girls Softball Championship Weekend at the Friedensfeld Softball Diamonds.
