The first Taste of Summer Charity Barbecue of August kicked off Wednesday on the corner of Main and Lumber.
Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue received this week’s raised funds. The grand total was $2,687.65.
President Michelle Neufeld says the money raised will go towards operational costs, bills and food. She offers her gratitude for the community’s generosity.
“I just want to thank the community,” Neufeld says. “We've been welcomed with open arms, and we've had a lot of people step up and really show their support for us. I just ask them to continue doing that in the future even though we have a building, or we're getting a building, we still have operational costs, and there's always continual costs.”

The Taste of Summer Charity Barbecue continues next week, Wednesday, August 9, from 11 AM to 1 PM or until supplies last. Proceeds will be in support of Island Breeze. A minimum of two dollars is required, but attendees are encouraged to donate more to charity.
