Virtuosi Concerts not only gives the stage to renowned, established performers but young artists as well.
This weekend, Virtuosi welcomes the renowned New Orford String Quartet – an ensemble made up of four elite orchestral leaders and outstanding musicians – joined by a group of up-and-comers.
Soprano Alice McGregor, flutist Joel Ulrich and pianist Grace Lu are three of this year’s Virtuosi Young Artists who, together, are known as the Haleine Trio.
French for “breath” – an act central to music-making, especially for the voice and flute – the group met at the Desautels Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba.
Performing the "Bravura variations on 'Ah! Vous dirai-je maman'” by Mozart, from Adolphe Adam’s comic opera, "Le Toréador," the Haleine Trio open for the New Orford String Quartet on Saturday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m. The concert takes place at St. Andrew River Heights United Church.
