FCC customers working with Ducks Unlimited Canada may be eligible for funding

Farm Credit Canada is partnering up with Ducks Unlimited Canada on a new Sustainability Incentive Program for customers in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. 

Kristine Tapley, the national lead for sustainable agriculture with DUC says under the new program producers that have land enrolled in the Marginal Areas Program could be eligible for a maximum payment of $2000 or $50 an acre depending on their lending with FCC.

Livestock producers see a 55 per cent reduction in fees for Agricultural Crown Land Leases (ACL) for forage

Livestock producers that use the province's Agricultural Crown Land Leases (ACL) for forage are getting an early Christmas Gift.

Premier Wab Kinew and Agriculture Minister Ron Kostyshyn announcing a temporary increase in the reduction for 2024 ACL forage lease rates from 33 per cent to 55 per cent.

Premier Kinew noted that Manitoba producers, like all Manitobans, continue to experience a rise in prices in all aspects of their business, including production and market costs, making it increasingly difficult to recover.

Ottawa announces funding for a Living Lab program in Manitoba

Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay announcing another key investment this time in Manitoba's Ag Sector. 

MacAulay announced $9.2 million dollars over five years for the creation of a new living lab program in Manitoba.

The living labs are a collaborative approach to agricultural innovation, bringing together farmers, scientists, and other stakeholders to co-develop and test new practices and technologies in a real-life context, so they can be adopted more quickly by Canadian farmers.

This marks the sixth year in a row that the Canadian Foodgrains Bank has been recognized in the Top 10.

The CFB is an organization that consists of 15 members made up of Christian agencies across the country.

Turkey remains a popular choice for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving weekend is always a busy time with family and friends. 

Thanksgiving and Christmas are the two biggest seasons for turkey consumption.

Stats for 2022, show that Canadians consumed 127.9 million kilograms of turkey,  with 2.1 million whole turkeys purchased at Thanksgiving.
