A clear mission statement, a deep understanding of the issue of global hunger, and strong reporting mechanisms are just some of the reasons the Foodgrains Bank has held this status since 2018 states the CFB website.

Manitoba Ag Days is coming to the Keystone Centre in January of 2025 and the speaker's line-up features a wide range of topics. 

The program is finalized, and the speaking line up is phenomenal, says Ag Days Media Coordinator Teresa Hildebrand  "The program committee listened to requests and suggestions as they assembled a speaking line up that’s all agriculture."

The Canadian Foodgrains Bank receives a large portion of their annual donations in the months of November and December, certainly because of the generous nature of their supporters during the Christmas season, but also as it is the end of the year and a good time to give to favorite charitable organizations for income tax purposes.

However, the Canada Postal strike has created some challenges for donors and so the CFB team encourages folks to give through alternate means.

Harvest is wrapping up with corn, some canola and sunflowers left to go.  Fieldwork is in full swing with farmers getting as much done as possible in these warmer than seasonal temperatures before the traditional cold, wet October shows itself.

Applied Research Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, Scott Chalmers, says they had some surprises in their field test plots near Melita, specifically with the corn that dried down rather quickly.

On farms and ranches all over the prairies fall work is in full swing in preparation for the winter months ahead, and the Manitoba Ag Days Board and committee members are in full swing making plans for the 48th annual Ag Days taking place at the Keystone Centre in Brandon, January 21-23, 2025.

The discussion continues between council members of the RM of Prairie Lakes and members of the Friends of Pelican Lake as they refine the AIS Mitigation Model to help stop an infestation of Aquatic Invasive Species, specifically zebra mussels, in Pelican Lake.

Last Sunday close to 200 people crowded the Ninette Community Hall to hear the proposed plan and to ask questions.

It was standing room only at Sunday’s Open House at the Ninette Community Hall to share and ask questions of the proposed AIS (Aquatic Invasive Species) Mitigation Model Info forum.   The model aligns with the one lake-one boat initiative.
