A blockbuster summer of shows and camps at Souris Valley Theatre

It’s a big summer at the Souris Valley Theatre with excitement on stage and behind the scenes. With two parody-packed musicals and a full lineup of drama camps for kids, there’s something for everyone this season at Woodlawn Regional Park.

Audiences can expect plenty of laughs and catchy tunes with YellowStone – A Wild West Musical, running in July, and Golden Girls Vacation, which takes over the stage in August. But the spotlight isn’t just for the pros — young performers will also get their time to shine thanks to the Melodye Pierson Youth Summer Drama Camps.

White Bear First Nation man appears in court on assault charge

Carlyle RCMP have charged a man in connection with a serious assault that took place on White Bear First Nation late last month.

Around 5:30 a.m. on June 28, 2025, police were called after an injured man arrived at a home on the First Nation seeking help. Investigators determined the man had been seriously assaulted. He was transported to the hospital with what were described as serious injuries. An update on his condition is not available.

Osama Kamel joins Estevan Public Youth Centre team as summer events begin

School’s out, and the Estevan Public Youth Centre is gearing up for a summer of fun with a little extra help from a familiar face. Osama Kamel is back at EPYC — but this time, not just as a participant. Now a summer student, Osama joined Co-Executive Director Bonnie Chepil-Kvamme on the SUN 102 Morning Show to talk about what’s ahead this July. From parking lot badminton to a late-night swim at the Leisure Centre, the summer calendar is packed with ways for youth to connect, compete and cool off.

Wellness Committee invites Estevan to connect, play and get involved

The Estevan Community Wellness Committee is taking a hands-on approach to building a safer, more connected community. Through initiatives that address mental wellness, substance use and addiction, education and employment, and victimization, the committee is working to improve quality of life for residents across the city. A newly launched website now offers a central hub for local resources, while monthly games nights provide a welcoming space for people of all ages to gather.

UPDATE: Tornado Warning for Redvers dropped, severe thunderstorm warning still in place

UPDATE: As of 7:35 pm, SaskAlert has dropped the Tornado Warning placed on the area around Redvers. They have now changed it to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, but a tornado is no longer imminent. 

Environment and Climate Change Canada is still warning the public that a system is passing through the area that is capable of producing strong winds, large hail and localized flooding due to heavy rains.

A tornado is still possible, though, the weather agency warns. 

Jeffery Straker to make Souris Valley Theatre debut Thursday

Award-winning singer-songwriter Jeffery Straker is bringing his piano and prairie roots to the Souris Valley Theatre this Thursday, July 3. Estevan Public Library launches summer of reading, music and magic
