The Village of Torquay is gearing up for a once-in-a-century celebration. From June 27 to 29, the community will mark its 100th anniversary with a weekend packed full of food, music, history, and family-friendly events. Mayor Terry Malaryk and Centennial Committee Chairperson Cindy Daae joined the SUN 102 Morning Show with Dan to share what’s in store.

Parade set to roll through Estevan this afternoon
Excitement is building in Estevan as the city gears up for its annual parade, set to hit the streets later today.
Paulann Boulding with Smile Services said the lineup for floats will begin at 3:30 p.m. Participants are asked to head down 3rd Street past Westview School to the stop sign at Alice and 1st Street. From there, they’ll turn left and follow the valley to find their designated spots, marked with pegs.
Estevan talent well represented in 2009-born SJHL Draft
It was a strong showing for Estevan hockey programs during this year’s Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) Draft, with several local players hearing their names called and the Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins adding a number of promising young prospects to their organization.
The Bruins made five selections in the 2009-born draft. With the fifth overall pick, they selected forward Ramy Borowsky from the Tisdale Trojans. At 18th overall, they chose defenceman Orsen Poll from the Yorkton U18 AAA Maulers.
Southeast TechHub relaunches RISE with $20K pitch prize backed by SaskPower
The Southeast TechHub (SETH) has relaunched RISE: the Rural Innovation Startup Ecosystem — a free, 10-month program designed to support entrepreneurs across southeast Saskatchewan. First introduced in 2023, the program gained attention when two Grade 12 students won $22,500 for their portable irrigation system. Now backed by SaskPower, RISE is returning to help turn more local ideas into global solutions, with a focus on energy, agriculture, and rural innovation.
Small village, big day: Roche Percee Days aims to bring people together
The Village of Roche Percee is gearing up for the first-ever Roche Percee Days on July 12 — a brand-new summer tradition packed with local pride. With a full day of activities, from a craft show and car show to a pig roast and evening cabaret, the celebration also serves as a fundraiser to help add a new kitchen and bathroom to the village hall.
