I love to Read 2024

I Love to Read Month with Friesens in Altona visited the grade two students at Pine Ridge Elementary in Winkler for another story time.

Students at Plum Coulee School are diving into their favorite books and having fun getting to know new authors and genres during I Love to Read Month.

Goldenwest reporter, Pam Fedack visited the school along with Pat Villarica from Friesens Corporation in Altona last week. The book we shared was "Fishing with Grandma" written by Susan Avingaq with Maren Vsetula and illustrated by Charlene Chua and published by Inhabit Media.

For the second year in a row, CFAM Morning Show co-host Zack Driedger headed to Ecole Elmwood School in Altona for I Love to Read Month!

He had a crowd of about 72 Grade 2 & 3 students all gathered in the library and read them the fun rhyming book "Bear Can't Wait", written by Karma Wilson and Illustrated by Jane Chapman, the book was recommended by the librarian at Ecole Elmwood and went over incredibly well with the students.

Director of Library Services at South Central Regional Library Cathy Ching joined the Morning Show to discuss I Love to Read Month.

Over the years, SCRL has dedicatedly transformed its spaces from just a library to a community center. Ching talked about the fun activities they have going on.

Giggles and laughter rang out as Pembina Valley Online News Reporter Robyn Wiebe read to classes at École Morden Middle School on Monday.

"Superdog - Heart of a Hero" had a message of hard work and kindness, even to those who are mean to you. "And Then it Happened" had Gordon, Paulo and I lining up for flu shots when a trick sure to make everyone come running to see what happened ensued.

We had an excellent time at the Prairie Dale School library reading to the grade 4 students. Ronny Guenther read three books to the young readers. The Unforgettable Party by Noemi Vola, The Worm Family has its Picture Taken by Jennifer Frank and Davi Ezra Stein, and Roller Coaster by Marla Frazee.

The Country 88 Morning Show Host, Nicole Klassen, took a short drive to Winkler Elementary School for I Love to Read Month with Friesen's in Altona. 

It's I Love to Read month and on Tuesday, Clayton Dreger and Eva Heide joined Friesens Corporation's Carol Hildebrand to share their love of reading to grade two students at Gretna Elementary School! 

Carol read the book that Friesens is gifting to the kids, Fishing With Grandma by Inuk author Susan Avingaq with Maren Vsetula and illustrated by Charlene Chua and published by Inhabit Media.

Schools across the province kicked off 'I Love to Read Month' in various exciting ways on Thursday. 

Two Winnipeg Blue Bombers made their way to Winkler Elementary School to help students and staff kick it off Blue and Gold style! 

The school was chosen for a visit through a contest run by the Blue Bomber organization.

February is I Love To Read month, an annual celebration of literacy in Manitoba. 

Maple Leaf Elementary school in Morden launched this special month on Thursday, February 1st.

"This year our theme is 'Reading Helps Me Soar," said Tara Routhier, guidance counsellor and member of the planning committee.
