Falk says Budget 2024 being called "the worst in Canada's history"
The Member of Parliament for Provencher is using words like "disappointing" and "concerning" to sum up the federal budget delivered this week by the Trudeau Liberals. Ted Falk says exactly what this budget translates into, has yet to be seen.
"But to start off with, very disappointing that again Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government have chosen to present a budget with a $40 billion deficit," says Falk.
PC Manitoba announces leadership contest date
The Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba has announced the date for its leadership vote.
President Brent Pooles says the party's next leader will be selected on April 26, 2025. He also announced that Brad Zander will serve as the party's Leadership Committee Chair, overseeing the implementation of the leadership race.
Colorado Low to hit Manitoba this week
In a matter of only a few days, southern Manitoba will go from near summer-like conditions to a winter wonderland. That is according to Environment Canada, as a Colorado Low sits on the doorstep.
Temperatures the next couple of days are expected to remain warmer than normal, but then things change.
"It's a roller coaster out there," says Jason Knight with Environment Canada. "Things take a turn for the worse Tuesday night."
Knight says we will see rain move in late Tuesday as a Colorado Low enters Manitoba.
Duo face drug trafficking charges following crash near Brunkild
A man from Steinbach and a woman from the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne face drug trafficking charges following a single-vehicle collision Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday at approximately 8:10 am, Headingley RCMP received a report of the collision on Highway 3 near Brunkild. When police attended the scene, the vehicle had been in the northwest ditch and was being towed away. Police say the vehicle had likely hit the ditch at one o'clock that morning.

More snow on the way; 5-10 cm expected Easter weekend
It could end up being a very white Easter for southern Manitoba.
Natalie Hasell with Environment Canada says they are tracking a system that could drop between 5 and 10 centimetres of snow on the Red River Valley.
Hasell explains there is a low-pressure system currently sitting over southern Alberta. There is also a trough that extends to a low-pressure system sitting in Montana. Hasell says that trough of low pressure will move across the prairies, arriving in Manitoba by Friday.
"So that's where the snow is coming from," she says.
Flood threat remains slim across Manitoba basins
The risk of flooding this spring remains low for the Red River and its tributaries.
That is according to Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure's Hydrologic Forecast Centre, which released its March Flood Outlook Report on Tuesday. The report indicates a low-to-moderate risk of significant spring flooding across Manitoba basins.
