Canadians now blocked from seeing news on Facebook
Discovering news articles, photos and videos on Facebook and Instagram will soon become a relic of the past, as Meta has begun ending news availability in Canada.
Already many Facebook and Instagram users in Western Manitoba have noticed they no longer have access to posts from DiscoverWestman.com and CJRB Radio 1220 .
In June, Meta started running a test that limited news for up to five per cent of users, but now it says it is moving out of the testing phase.
Blue Hills RCMP point out "disturbing" recent trend
Blue Hills RCMP say officers have seen a disturbing trend over the last few days on the roadways in southwestern Manitoba. In three days, four impaired drivers were charged, including a mother with two young children in the vehicle.
On July 6, 2022, at approximately 9:45 pm, Blue Hills RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Richmond Avenue West, near Road 66. The dispatch came in that two children under five years of age were in the vehicle.
Crash claims lives of two people from Glenboro-South Cypress
Two people have died following a crash on the evening of July 4th in the R.M. of Glenboro-South Cypress.
According to RCMP, a vehicle travelling south on Highway 5 entered an intersection and collided with a semi-truck and trailer heading east on Highway 2
The driver of the vehicle, a 91-year-old male, and the passenger an 86-year-old female, both from the R.M. of Glenboro-South Cypress, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the semi, a 58-year-old male from Souris, had minor injuries.

Another rainy day in Southern Manitoba has brought more precipitation to regions which have already had more than their fill of the wet stuff over the past several weeks, as yet another moisture laden low pressure system crossed the province Thursday, and continues to bring shower activity this morning to some areas.
Overland Flood Warning issued for most of Southern Manitoba
Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre has issued an overland flood warning for southern Manitoba from the Saskatchewan border eastward to Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 12 and from the United States border northwards to PTH 1. The warning could extend north of PTH 1 between PTH 5 and PTH 16, and north of PTH 1 between Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg.
These areas could receive more than 50 millimetres (mm) precipitation of a mix of rain and snow, with some localized areas receiving up to 80 mm by midday April 25.

Clean up continues from this week's major Spring storm, with highway closures and cancellations extending for a third day into Good Friday. As 6:25 A.M. The TransCanada west of Brandon to the Saskatchewan border and east of Winnipeg to Hadashville remains closed, as well as portions of Highways,2, 3, 5, 10, 13, 14, 18, 21 and 23. All remaining open highways are reported as ice and snow covered with reduced visibility in blowing snow.
Waiting game ends tonight as Blizzard Warnings issued ahead of major Spring storm
They say waiting is the hardest part, and as the province collectively holds its breath ahead of the arrival of what's being described as potentially the worst blizzard in decades, the waiting will end late tonight and overnight into Wednesday. Environment Canada has issued a Blizzard Warning for most of Southern Manitoba, with areas east of the Red River under a Winter Storm Warning.

After escaping Spring Break without seeing any snowfall, it appears we will pay for that rarity in a big way with a major Spring storm expected to hammer much of the region beginning Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the entire southern half of the province ahead of the Colorado low’s arrival. Multiple days of heavy snow, strong winds and blowing snow are in the forecast.
