Update: Another weather watch issued for areas of Rocky View County

A previous severe thunderstorm watch issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada has ended.

On Tuesday evening, the watch was issued for areas of Rocky View County, including areas near Irricana and Beiseker, as well as Kathyrn.

"Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts this evening."

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.

New record set for the Smile Cookie Campaign in Airdrie

Much-needed funds were brought in for the Airdrie Health Foundation thanks to the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign.

The campaign which ran from April 29 through to May 5 generated $62,024.02. There were over 152 shifts of volunteers decorating cookies for about half an hour per shift.

Michelle Bates, the Executive Director of the Airdrie Health Foundation is thankful for everybody who bought a cookie.

Crossfield fire captain says goodbye after 40 years: 'It's the love of community'

Several firefighter helmets with various ranks, certificates denoting awards for his service, as well as photos, and newspaper clippings span the wall of Joe Holstein's garage. His firefighter jacket hangs on the opposite side of the wall; the same fire jacket he hung up for good last week when he retired after 40 years as a firefighter with the Crossfield Fire Department.

Crossfield resident offers free produce to those in need

A Crossfield business owner is providing free produce to residents in need. Stacked Bistro and Bakery owner, Debbie Stiles, has a community produce bin that she provides for Crossfield residents in need.

The bin is located within the vestibule of the restaurant. Anybody can access the bin whenever they would like. Stiles stocks it with vegetables and fruit every morning with around 8-10 different items.

"I'm lucky enough to be a restaurant owner who can get produce wholesale for a lot cheaper, but I do this all on my own, the bin has nothing to do with the restaurant."

On June 15th, residents of Airdrie and Rocky View can participate in a hazardous waste roundup and shredding event. This is a fantastic opportunity to get rid of those unwanted household chemicals and documents that have been piling up. The first 100 participants in the Hazardous Waste Roundup will receive a free household hazardous waste kit as well.

Watch out! What Alberta motorists need to know this spring and summer

Motorists have plenty of things to be mindful of this spring, especially as both farming and motorcycle seasons are now starting on Alberta roadways.

Rocky View County has reminded motorists about the farming season, stating that, motorists may have already seen a few tractors or machines in the fields as they drive around the county.

Mounties search for suspects in Crossfield pharmacy robbery

Mounties are investigating after three suspects robbed a Crossfield Pharmacy yesterday morning. RCMP is also warning residents that they should not approach the individuals as they are considered armed and dangerous. Residents should instead call 9-1-1 if they know the suspects' whereabouts. 

According to police, Airdrie RCMP responded to the pharmacy on Railway Avenue on April 15 just after 9 a.m.  

"Three suspects entered the pharmacy demanding pharmaceuticals. The suspects fled in a Silver Chrysler 300."

WATCH: Crossfield firefighters tackle two fires on Tuesday

Tuesday night was busy for the Crossfield Fire Department as two different fires broke out. Fire crews were able to get them under control with minimal damage.

Bill Messner, the Fire Chief for the Crossfield Fire Department talked about the first fire they attended.

"We had responded to the report of a grass fire, just in the northern area of the town along the railway."

When crews arrived, there was a fire that was impinging into a storage area of miscellaneous items.
